Every artist asks the same sort of questions when they're starting out.

How do I use reference? What is good reference? Do I need to pencil everything out before diving in with ink or paint? How do I put my own spin on the source material? Do I need to know how something is constructed before I can draw it well? What sort of palette should I use? 

The list goes on and on!

All of these are valid questions, and all of them are questions I used to ask myself when I was just getting serious about making art.
